Privacy Policy
Last updated October 19, 2026 (draft)
This policy explains what [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Land Prowler") collects, why, and who it's shared with.
What we collect
- Account: email, display name, password (stored only as a hash), terms acceptance and consent choices.
- Research activity: addresses and parcel numbers you look up, reports you request, answers you log from county calls, flags you raise.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive a customer ID, what you bought and whether it was paid — never your card number.
- Technical: IP address and request logs, used for security and rate limiting.
Public-record data in reports
Reports combine government and public datasets (flood maps, wetlands, soils, parcel and assessor records). Parcel records can include an owner's name; we show it only inside the app and never on shared links.
How we use it
- To run the service: underwriting parcels, preparing reports, billing and support.
- County- or city-wide answers you log are reused for other users in that jurisdiction (see the Terms).
- If you opted in, anonymized facts may improve the service and aggregate data products.
Who we share with
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), hosting at DigitalOcean, [EMAIL PROVIDER].
- Public data services: we send parcel coordinates or parcel numbers — not your identity — to government data services to build a report.
- People you share a link with.
- Law enforcement when legally required.
We don't sell your personal information.
Retention and your choices
We keep account data while your account is open and [RETENTION PERIOD] after. You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw reuse consent, at [CONTACT EMAIL]. [STATE-SPECIFIC RIGHTS, e.g. CCPA, IF APPLICABLE.]
